I'll walk you through the entire spray tanning process, explain what to expect during your appointment, and review pre- and post-tan care to help you achieve the best possible results. For the best results, we recommend scheduling your spray tan 1–3 days before your special event, vacation, or photoshoot. This allows your tan time to fully develop, settle into a natural-looking glow, and gives your skin time to adjust to your final color.

For most clients, the ideal timing is:

• 2 days before your event: A beautiful, natural glow with time for full development

• 1 day before your event: Great for a fresh, radiant look

• 3 days before your event: Ideal if you prefer your tan to soften slightly or want extra time for any adjustments

For important events such as weddings, we recommend booking a trial tan ahead of time. This allows us to customize your color, ensure you love your results, and create the perfect glow for your special day.

At Zen Glo, every tan is customized to complement your skin tone, your plans, and the look you want to achieve.

Your custom Zen Glo spray tan will typically look its best during the first 3–5 days and can last 7–10 days or longer with proper preparation and aftercare. Many clients can enjoy their glow for up to 10–14 days when they follow the recommended pre- and post-tan care routine.

The longevity of your tan will depend on your skin type, daily activities, skincare products, and how quickly your skin naturally exfoliates. To help extend the life of your glow, we recommend:

• Moisturizing daily with tan-safe products

• Avoiding harsh exfoliants and products that strip the skin

• Patting your skin dry after showering instead of rubbing

• Using a tan extender when needed to refresh and maintain your color

Your comfort is my top priority. You may wear as much or as little as you're comfortable with. Many clients choose to wear a bikini bottom or thong, while others prefer disposable undergarments or to tan topless. Whatever you choose, tan lines will reflect your clothing choices. Disposable thongs, disposable bralettes, hair nets, hair ties, barrier cream, and cleansing wipes are provided for your convenience.

Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing and avoid tight bras, leggings, socks, or anything that may rub against your skin while your tan is developing. Flip-flops or loose shoes are recommended if possible. Avoid wearing white or light-colored clothing until after your first rinse, as some cosmetic bronzers may transfer. Once you've completed your first rinse, you can return to your normal wardrobe.

Proper preparation is the first step to achieving a smooth, even, and long-lasting glow. Taking a little extra time to prepare your skin helps create the perfect canvas for your custom spray tan.

• Gently exfoliate using an oil-free body scrub or exfoliating mitt to remove dry skin and create an even surface for your tan.

• Complete any other beauty services, including shaving, waxing, manicures, pedicures, or other treatments. These services should be completed at least 24 hours before your spray tan to allow your skin time to settle.

• For the best results, avoid showering the day of your spray tan appointment. If showering is necessary, please do so at least 3 hours prior to your appointment to allow your skin’s natural balance to restore.

• Arrive with clean, dry skin free of lotions, oils, perfumes, deodorant, or other skincare products unless otherwise instructed.

• Wear loose, dark clothing and comfortable footwear to your appointment and afterward.

For the longest-lasting results:

• Use gentle, tan-safe body products

• Moisturize daily, especially after showering

• Avoid hot tubs, excessive soaking, and harsh scrubbing

• Pat your skin dry instead of rubbing after showers

• Use a tan extender when needed to maintain your glow

For your first rinse:

• Use lukewarm water only—do not use hot water.

• Gently rinse your body until the cosmetic bronzer has washed away and the water runs clear.

• Avoid using soaps, body washes, scrubs, loofahs, or exfoliating products during your first rinse.

• Do not scrub or rub your skin; gently pat dry with a towel afterward.

After your first rinse, allow your tan to continue developing before applying moisturizer. For the best results, wait until your tan has fully developed before applying lotions or skincare products.

If you need to moisturize after your first rinse, choose a tan-safe moisturizer that is free of ingredients that can interfere with your tan’s development or cause uneven fading.

Once your tan has fully developed, continue moisturizing daily with tan-safe products to keep your skin hydrated and help extend the life of your glow.

Unlike UV tanning, sunless tanning allows you to achieve a beautiful glow without the damaging effects of the sun.

Yes. A spray tan enhances your skin with a beautiful, sun-kissed glow, but it does not protect your skin from the sun. Spray tanning solution does not contain SPF and should never be considered a replacement for sunscreen or a “base tan.”

You can still burn while wearing a spray tan, so it’s important to continue practicing safe sun habits by applying sunscreen, seeking shade when needed, and protecting your skin from UV exposure.

Many clients choose to enjoy a spray tan during pregnancy, but we always recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before receiving any spray tanning service while pregnant.

Yes, certain medications, hormonal changes, and skin conditions can affect how your skin reacts to a spray tan. Changes in hormones, skin sensitivity, dryness, or oil production may impact how your tan develops, fades, or appears.

Some acne medications and treatments can make your skin more sensitive, dry, or prone to exfoliation, which may affect your results.
